- The Winter Garden
On a finger numbing, blue lip turning, cold afternoon, The Winter Garden at Le Burgundy Paris was my plan A, plan B and Plan C. It was my everything! With my jet-lagged daughter in tow, fingers to cold to adequately use my camera, and an on-again, off-again relationship with my gloves when using my iPhone I formed two resolutions. Firstly, whenever travelling in a European winter again, investing in a pair of leather gloves that have electronic sensors in the finger tips, compatible with touch screens are essential! iPhone finger freeze issue solved! Resolution two, it was chocolat chaud o’Clock at The Winter Garden, Le Burgundy. With no back up plan for alternative accommodation, it was a sweet relief that months of planning paid off, and the establishment was every bit as beautiful and clean as advertised. Fortunately, that wasn’t the only thing that was sweet. Liquid hot chocolate freely flowed and was readily served by the attentive Amelie. The most difficult challenge faced during a blissful stay at Le Burgundy, was deciding which cake, pastry or macaron would be the afternoon’s selection. Faced with decision paralysis, this conundrum fortunately resulted in a sampling of a large selection from the sweets menu. Conclusion… this establishment is a genuine toffee temptation. And if the mouth watering, waist-widening cuisine isn’t enough of a sensory sensation, the constantly burning fragrant candles will be. Ever awoken in the morning from macaron crumb rash, yes well I can’t be held responsible for what takes place at midnight when in Paris. The temptations are endless. Did I mention Chanel is six doors down?
All in all, the most memorable afternoon spent journaling about travel reflections in the warmth of “The Winter Garden”, with the flicker of scented candles and the accompaniment of a bottomless cup of rich hot chocolate. What more could a girl ask for?
